Success Stories
Former Resident Reina and
Her Baby
When
I was 20 years old I made a very irresponsible decision to
have a baby. Things didn’t work out the way I thought that
they would and I became very frightened because I couldn’t
stay in the unsafe environment of my family. I tried a
shelter but left because it was really scary. I had nowhere
to go so I slept in my car. Feeling devastated and
vulnerable, I broke down in tears and confided my living
situation to a counselor at Kaiser Hospital. That was when I
learned about Casa Vincentia. I was so grateful to be able
to go from where I was to such a peaceful and giving place.
As a resident of
Casa our top priority was to be productive. We were always
to be doing something that helped us toward our goals for
our babies, our careers and ourselves. Casa has many
regulations, which we had to follow. These regulations later
turned into beneficial life learning skills for me. We had
to plan a personal weekly schedule, help with cooking and
the chores around the house. We were required to keep our
beds made and our rooms neat and clean. We had to be in
school or have a job. Classes were held to help us be better
parents. I am so grateful for the safe place Casa gave me to
live and will always be grateful for the chance that Casa
gave my baby and me for a better life.

During my stay here at Casa Vincentia, I
have learn so many things and I have finally begun to
understand many others. Being here has taught me to have
more patience and tolerance as well as more understanding of
both others and myself. I am grateful for your showing me
that if I want something, I need to go out and get it for
myself.
I would not have been able
to make it to the next step without the help of Casa and the
people who run it. You have provided such beneficial
programs for women in need of help and I’m so grateful that
you were there for me. I truly feel that Casa has saved my
life and the life of my baby. This is a debt I could never
repay. Thank you.
        Former residents Pilar and Andrea
Pilar and Andrea never saw themselves as
young ladies who would need to live in a home for pregnant
women. From different parts of the country, Andrea and
Pillar’s paths crossed at Casa while waiting for the births
of their babies.
Both women experienced the difficulty of
family crisis, both being forced to leave home with no place
to live.
After the birth of their babies these
young mothers left Casa
prepared to face the challenges of motherhood. Pilar
is enrolled in World
Vision College of cosmetology and Andrea obtained her
GED while living at Casa and she is now attending Western
Career College.
These mothers are on the road to building
a stable future because of your prayers, support and
contributions. Thank you on behalf of our residents and
their babies.

Miss Jackson used to make
me mad, telling me to fix my hair and tie my shoes, but
today I’m thankful because I have learned to love myself and
look like a lady. Thanks, this program is a blessing

When I first arrived at
Casa there were elements of the structure I did not like. I
did not like weekly meetings. Now I like weekly meetings and
sitting down to dinner together every night. It’s things
like that, which makes me feel prepared for family
life. I am
glad
to be a resident at Casa.

Since entering into Casa
it helped me to have a positive outlook on life. I'm a
student at Lacey College working on my A.A. Degree. I
enjoy cooking on my scheduled cook day. Having dinner
as group in the evening is relaxing. I feel motivated
and determined to make a good life for my baby and me.
Thank you Casa Vincentia. |
